Porto Cervo is the most exclusive holiday resort on the
Costa Smeralda, situated on the northeast coast of
Sardinia, near the 46-metre-high Capo Ferro with its
lighthouse. This place came into being in 1962. Porto
Cervo is a district in the community of Arzachena.
The architecture of this village combines ancient
Sardinian traditions with modern elements. Porto
Cervo has developed into a popular holiday destination
of the international jet set with a number of 4 and
5 star hotels available.
Karim Aga Khan IV founded this place as a holiday resort for exclusive holidaymakers in the 1960s. Porto Cervo quickly became popular especially among the wealthy vacationers. The landmark of Porto Cervo is the “Stella Maris” a
white church with a turquoise roof. Next to the
entrance door hangs the popular “Madonna Dolorosa”
by El Greco, which you must have seen.
